Melody McBride

Communications Chair

University of Southern California, Los Angeles

Having grown up biracial, I've always been fascinated by diversity, culture, and the issue of racism. I aspire to utilize these interests to contribute to a more equitable healthcare system, as numerous racial groups encounter obstacles in accessing the care they truly deserve.

Currently, I am a senior at USC, pursuing a double major in Human Biology (BS) and Chinese (BA). Upon graduation, I intend to apply to medical school and leverage my diverse background to enhance the diversity and equity within healthcare. In my previous experiences, I have volunteered as a teacher, educating elementary students in LA about health and nutrition. Furthermore, I have conducted research on population genetics at Keck Medical School, exploring variations within Han Chinese populations. I’ve also worked as a copy editor and photographer for The Daily Trojan and Boeing. Outside of academia, I love crocheting and sharing my creations on social media.

As the Communication Chair, I am responsible for managing the social media accounts, coordinating campaigns, and promoting the remarkable work carried out by the CELC.
